Taronga Zoo is a special wildlife habitat located just 12 minutes from Sydney by ferry, offering a chance to see exotic animals from around the world. Perched above the beautiful Sydney Harbour, Taronga Zoo is home to over 4,000 animals, and you can attend more than 20 keeper talks every day. Visitors will learn about the zoo’s efforts in wildlife conservation and its role in caring for rehabilitated endangered species. You can explore various trails at Taronga Zoo, including the Australian Walkabout, Kid’s Trail, Reptile World, and the African Savannah. Although the Big Cats Trail no longer exists, there are still plenty of exciting areas to discover. At Taronga Conservation Society Australia, we believe wildlife and humans can coexist and share the planet. We are dedicated to protecting the world’s wildlife, not only for today but for future generations. Our commitment to conservation science extends both in Australia and around the world. We collaborate with universities, governments, and conservation partners to tackle challenges facing wildlife. In addition to our scientific efforts, Taronga Zoo offers educational programs to inspire young people to become leaders in global conservation. The zoo receives support from the NSW Government and the Taronga Foundation, which was established in 2000 to raise funds for conservation, education, and wildlife care.
